How To Maintain & Wash Your Ceramic Coated Car

Most people don’t think about the fact that their car is covered in a thin layer of ceramic coating. Ceramic coatings are designed to protect your vehicle’s paint job from scratches and other damage. But ceramic coating maintenance is equally important. This article will show you how to maintain and how to wash your ceramic coated car properly, so it stays looking new for years to come.

1.Wash your vehicle regularly!

Remember to always wash your vehicle, not just on special occasions. Dirt is what causes rust and also deteriorates the ceramic coating and will cause other health problems for your vehicle. Don’t trust me? Ask a mechanic!

It is good practice to wash your car every 3-4 days. All you need is some car soap, a bucket of water, a sponge, and a hose. Wash your dirty car straight after you come back from driving it in the rain or surrounded by dirt.

When washing your car with soap, try to not directly spray the soap on its paint.

2.Do Not Wash the Vehicle in Direct Sunlight

Try to wash the vehicle in the shade at all times. Why? Because when you wash your car or apply any form of chemical on it, the heat will make that chemical react more aggressively and could cause damage on your paint/coating.

Ceramic coating is not made to withstand chemicals and water so if you are washing your car, please be gentle to it!

Also, when the water dries up on your car, try not to drive under direct sunlight. The heat will react with what’s left of the water and may cause damage to your paint/coating as well. Try drying it with a dry cloth or waiting for the sun to go down before putting it back in the car park/garage.

3. Do not use any form of Chemical, Cleaner or Polish

A lot of people don’t know that it is harmful to use chemicals after Ceramic Coating as well as a normal paint so please be careful. Never, ever use Windshield Washer Fluid for washing your car!

If you have existing paint protection and are interested in using chemical cleaners or polishing, the safest way is to first try it on a small portion of your vehicle and check if there are any negative reactions. If not, continue polishing only that specific area and leave the rest alone. Do not polish/clean the entire vehicle with chemicals/polish. It’s not very wise to try any repair since cleaning agents and polishes can do real damage on your paint protection. If you have any damages caused by a chemical, the best thing to do is to visit/contact whoever does the Best Ceramic Coating in Atlanta or your area for professional advice or just get them to repaint the affected area.

4. Use the Two-Bucket Method of Washing your Vehicle

What I mean by Two-Bucket Method is that you use 2 buckets of water and soap. One bucket will be filled with clean water for rinsing while the other one will be used to mix up the soapy water and to perform washing. This method allows dirt/soap residue left behind from your first wash to get rinsed off by the clean water and not be spread all over your vehicle during washing.

5. Spray Bottle Method! (For Winter)

If you are living in a place that has terrible winter and experiences snow every year, this method is very crucial as it prevents salt/snow from being spread all over your vehicle and damaging the paint/coating.

What you need:

– Plastic bottle (the bigger, the better!)

– Water (tap or bottled)

– Salt (table salt works well)

Fill up the plastic bottle with water and add some salt in it to make a brine solution. Shake the bottle well and you should see the salt dissolving in the water.

Apply this brine solution on your vehicle (spray it) before going out into a snowy/salty environment when it is above zero degrees Celsius. It will prevent any of that salty or snowy residue from being deposited onto your car’s paint/coating.

Use a clean, damp cloth to wipe it off after you get home from that snowy/salty environment.

6.Don’t wax your car!

Waxing is not very good for Ceramic Coating as it doesn’t provide any real protection. In fact, wax attracts dust and dirt to itself so leave it alone on your CCS vehicle. You don’t need to wax at all if you are driving in a clean environment without much dust/dirt.

Use these tips to maintain your ceramic coating the next time you wash your car.
